If I was in the postion of one of the boys who escaped from the crash and was forced to watch helplessly as Rob
died what would be running through my head would be that it was my fault. I would also try my best to get Rob out of the car. I would feel terrible the next day probably depressed and wouldn't go to school because of what happened. The reason why I wouldnt go to school the next day because I wouldnt want to see everyone crying and be constantley reminded what
happened.
2. When you hear or read of a car accident that involved teenagers, what do you tend to assume was the cause of the accident? What about if you hear about an accident involving the elderly? Explain your answers.
When I hear that there was a car accident involving teenagers I think, that they were drunk.They could have been high or on drugs. When I hear this I become aggrevated and somewhat upset because, I know that it could have been anyone and because it was from there carless mistakes.When I hear that there was a car accident invoving elderly I think, that it was because they were confused and didnt know ere they were going. I also sometimes think that they could have had a stroke or a seizer. Something could of happened to cause this. 3. Andy and Rob have their own slang and manner of speaking. On the surface they seem to be putting each other down, but it is clear to us that they are close friends who respect each other. What purpose does this style of language serve? Does it draw you closer together? Does it set you off from others? Explain.

My most frightening moment would have to be when I was about 5 years old.
I had two moles one on my kneee and one on my back. They started to change colors and peel.
I went to a Dermatologist they had to check it and take samples. The next thing I knew I was going into surgery they
had found cancer in the moles. They were both surgically removed but they said That they may grow back at any given moment and they will most likley have cancer still in them. I didn't even know what was really going on until my parents told me I was scared because i was only 5 and didn't know the diffrence. Ever since then my back and knee has been scared and they hrt a good bit of the time. 5. Although many people did cry, Rhonda did not cry after the accident occured; she was angry. When or if a public tragedy occurs and it is not someone in your immediate family (9/11/01), how do you respond? Explain.
When something tragic happens like 9/11/01 I feel bad for everyone in the accident and there family. I feel bad because
they probably didn't deserve it. The families would have a hard time because of the accident. There love ones are gone because of a carless person. They died because of a stupid act. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time it is noones fault except for the person that did it.
6. One Herald editorial says that statistics don't usually "mean much, but this statistic (Rob) had a name, face,..." Do you agree that it is hard to feel emotional about the statistics when you do not have a face to relate them to?
7. In his homework assigment, Gerald writes that he would rid the world of 3 things. What 3 things would you rid the world of? Stick to concrete items, and back up your choices with personal reasons why you are eliminating them.
If I were to rid the world of three things it would be alcohol,drugs,and cigarettes. The reason why I would get rid of alchol is because it make people act diffrent and can really mess them up plus in the morning you have a hang over and become really sick. I would also rid the world of drugs because they can really mess you up. They are disgusting and bad for your health. Drugs can really ruin your life. The last thing I would rid the world of is cigarettes because thy smell horrible and stain your teeth and fingers yellow. You can become addicted to cigarettes and they cause health problems.
8. Neither of Andy's parents bother to show up for the game. How important is it for you that your parents turn out for the events in which you participate? Explain.
To me it is important for my parents to show up at an event to support me. They dont regulary come most of the time they just pick me up after. It would be nice to have some support and be acknowledged by my parents and have them there for me. When they do show up it makes me happy they are there but I also dont really care because they usually are not there.
9. In Rob's absence, Andy becomes the star of the basketball team. Write about a time when your talents were overshadowed by a friend or a sibling. How did it make you feel? Did you wish that something would happen that would give you a chance to shine? Elaborate

I would treat Andy like a friend and be there and help him through it. I would be telling him its not his fault and ask if he wants to talk about it. I would cry with him and try my best to make him feel better. Iwould be there no matter what and also stand up to the other kids for beign so rude about it imean he did just lose one of his best friends.

I think home work is a waste of time it dose not help me it takes away my time. Homework gets in the way I mean schools there to learn why would you want to take school work home and call it home work then be up all night or be piled with books. It is also a waste of time because when you come home form school you want to relax and hang with friends not be bored and do work. School is for learning and home is for living and you cant live a life if you are to busy doing work. Thats why when you get older you work then you come home and live life.
12. Do you feel that your parents 'get' you or don't understand you at all? What makes you think this? Explain.
My parents dont get me at all they dont know much about me or what i do they really dont care for that either. They are to caught up with my little sisters and every move they make are keeping the world spinning (not). They dont care what I do unless they tell me to do something and I dont do it then they get mad. They dont know what gose on in my life most of the time it dosent matter. For the majority of the time they are to busy with my sisters and themselves. They dont talk to me about there probelms and I dont think they care either. I am ignored until I do something wrong.
13. Andy believes that his friends would talk about him if he won academic awards, and then consider Marcus's unpopularity due to his achievement. Is academic failure or apathy built into teenager's notions about what is 'cool'? What effect does academic achievement have on you?
