1.

2. When you hear or read of a car accident that involved teenagers, what do you tend to assume was the cause of the accident? What about if you hear about an accident involving the elderly? Explain your answers.

2. When I hear about an accident involving teenagers I assume that they were under the influence. When I hear an accident involving the elderly I assume the cause is another driver ran into them. Teenagers think that the things they are warned about won't happen to them. Just like it is said in the book. So most of them aren't cautious about what they do. Teenagers like to have fun and to break the rules. In the end it results to injuries or death. That is why when I hear about an accident involving teenagers I automatically assume it was because they were under the influence. When I think of the elderly getting into a car accident I assume others crashed into them since elderly people often drive with caution and don't usually wreck.

3. Andy and Rob have their own slang and manner of speaking. On the surface they seem to be putting each other down, but it is clear to us that they are close friends who respect each other. Patty and Robert were supposed to be coming home from grocery shopping. I didn't think much of it until they turned the headlights out as they went up the rest of our driveway. I stomache slowly went into a knot as I realized that these people aren't people that I know.

5. Although many people did cry, Rhonda did not cry after the accident occured; she was angry. When or if a public tragedy occurs and it is not someone in your immediate family (9/11/01), how do you respond? Explain.

5. It doesn't usually affect me. Yes it is sad that so many people died when it wasn't their time but its just hard for me to feel emotion when I don't know the people that died. It would take a strong attachment for me to grief over another's death and to cry. If a student who went to my school died I would be shocked, sad, and I would miss them depending on who they are, but anything other than that I don't let it stay on my mind for too long. Everyone gets over the death of another. I just like to get over them the fast way.

6. One Herald editorial says that statistics don't usually "mean much, but this statistic (Rob) had a name, face,..." Do you agree that it is hard to feel emotional about the statistics when you do not have a face to relate them to?

7. In his homework assigment, Gerald writes that he would rid the world of 3 things. What 3 things would you rid the world of? Stick
to concrete items, and back up your choices with personal reasons why you are eliminating them.

7. If I could rid the world of three things, they would be alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana. I would rid the world of alcohol since I had a cousin who was an alcoholic. When my cousin was out drinking with some friends, they didn't think to have a designated driver. They crashed just a few miles away from a local bar. My cousin was in the hospital for a while. I would rid the world of cigarretes since my grandma died of lung cancer. Me and my grandmother used to be close. I didn't know any of my family members except for her so when I had a problem I went to her to comfort me. When she was gone it hurt so bad. It made me feel like my world was coming to an end. If she wouldn't of smoked, maybe she would still be alive. Finally I would rid the world of maraijuana since a close friend who had a bright future, great grades, and many friends decided to try it. After he got addicted to the high it gave him he wanted to drive when he was high. After he wrecked his car he was sent to the hospital where he was drug tested. Now he is in rehab, with weekly drug tests, a suspended license and a totaled car. That's why I would rid the world of alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana. TB Watch punctuation (comma after friends - line2) Since there are 3 items, equal development should be given to each one. You are a little skimpy on the sentence about your grandmother.

8. Neither of Andy's parents bother to show up for the game. How important is it for you that your parents turn out for the events in which you participate? Explain.

8. It is very important to me to have my parents come to events that I participate in. It shows me that they care about what I'm doing and it shows that they support me. When I see my dad at one of my basketball games it makes me happy to know that he cares and it makes me strive to do better. TB Capital I on I'm

Yes it was irrisponsible that they drank and drove but the others doing it were just as guilty as he was. Rob was guilty too. He knew that he wasn't supposed to go out drink and he knew there were risks to getting into a car with a drunk driver. The accident was everyones fault. Andy shouldn't feel like he killed Rob. He didn't.

11.Does doing homework help you to perform better on tests? Does homework seem purposeful to you, or is it basically a waste of time? What alternate do you suggest? Defend your answer.

11. No doing homework does not help me with tests. Homework does seem purposeful to me since it is extra practice, but without an instructor with you to explain things it doesn't help alot of kids. Taking notes in class would be a much more productive way of test taking preportations. In notes you can have whatever subject in great detail up one side and down the other. With homework it is just like trying to learn about a subject without any prior knowledge on it. TB apostrophe - doesn't preparations - spelling

12. Do you feel that your parents 'get' you or don't understand you at all? What makes you think this? Explain.

12. I feel like my father understands me. When I have a problem I go to him cause I know that he has experienced what I am going threw and alot more. My mom does not understand me at all. Besides the fact that I see her every two years, she grew up alot different than I am. Since my mother is Korean her customs are different than in America. She was taught her schooling at home and she worked on a farm.
TB because, not cause through, not threw comma after Korean, comma after home

The raise my self esteem and they make me want to do better at everything that I do. TB

14.

15. In a class discussion, Keisha says, "All of us at one time or another feel like a "cinder among snowflakes. You stand out when you want to blend in. You get noticed whether you want to or not." In a paragraph, write about a time when you have felt like a "cinder among the snowflakes".

It is something you attend when your in a hospital working on your internship. After I am finished with the residency I will be a gastroenterologist working in Cincinnati, Ohio. TB I hope this works out. You can do it if you try hard.
